We have been informed by Southeastern that there may be restrictions to off-peak services between 0930 and 1630 tomorrow, Friday 6 November.
It appears that this is again due to leaf-fall and wet weather. The exact reason for a timetable change is not clear, but it may be to allow Network Rail to run the track-cleaning machines during the day. These are slower than passenger trains, and so can disrupt the timetable.
Looks like one, maybe 2, RHTT trains running in the Short-Term Plan for last Friday, so I think main reason is having the extra slack to get the trains back on schedule for the evening rush should they get disrupted in the morning, rather than letting more RHTT’s run.
Thanks Mike.
However why would the need for extra slack just apply to Fridays? – it has now been on 30 October and 6 November.
