For once there was a useful PA announcement at Sevenoaks last night: “the steam train is running late”.
So I managed to see the Tornado in all its glory as it was held for a few minutes at a red signal.
Who said that there are no new trains on Southeastern?
Wonderful sight! Thousands of stranded Southern passengers would welcome a steam train this week. Or indeed any train at all!
There is something magical about seeing an old steam engine back on the rail line again.
Thank you for capturing this so we can see it.

Sadly, all the original LNER Peppercorn Class A1 locos were scrapped after only about 15 years. The magnificent Tornado is therefore completely new, the result of an enthusiasts’ project; it was the first steam engine built in Britain since the Evening Star in 1960.
