Councillors and SRTA members joined the Friends of Bat and Ball on Saturday to start tidying up the station.
Merilyn Canet and Tony Clayton – town councillors and members of the Sevenoaks Rail Travellers Association – joined Iain Porter and Cathy Baker, retiring councillor, to clear weeds and rubbish.
The morning was organised by Adrian Cheeseman of Sevenoaks Living Landscapes – who will plant wildlife friendly lavender and other plants around the station entrance.
About 30 passengers who came through the station welcomed the improvements under way and encouraged the diggers.
The ticket machines at Bat and Ball were out of action once again on Saturday. We have written to the rail companies to ask them to ensure that passengers who can’t buy a ticket are not threatened as fare dodgers – and to fix the machines.
Thanks for your work, I did notice the station was cleaner yesterday. The banner for the association was unfortunately vandalized.
