Bat & Ball Open Day Saturday 19 January

There’s an Open Day at Bat & Ball station this Saturday, 19 January between 1000 and 1200. There will be a chance to:

  • See inside the newly refurbished station building
  • Discover more about this local heritage landmark
  • Enjoy the refreshments from the cafe
  • Learn about volunteering opportunities and how to get involved
  • Find out about hiring the facilities
  • Take part in free family art activities

How is your commute to work impacting your well-being?

Dr Sarah O’Toole and Professor Nicola Christie at the Centre for Transport Studies, University College London, are conducting a study to better understand the link between the type (e.g. car, bus, train) and length of an individual’s commute on their physical and emotional well-being. Previous research has found that longer and more challenging commutes have been linked to lower life satisfaction, increased work-family conflict and greater stress.

SRTA responds to Sevenoaks Local Plan

The Sevenoaks Rail Travellers Association has responded to the consultation on the Sevenoaks District Local Plan.

“The lack of any reference in Chapter 4 – ‘Well Connected Communities” of the Local Plan to the constraints and challenges of adequate rail services is alarming. It suggests a lack of ambition for what needs to be achieved. There is no mechanism identified through which rail capacity increases of the size required can be delivered, or who needs to act to achieve and finance them. It will need central government funding, and should, in our view, involve Transport for London in developing shorter distance services
