Bat & Ball Commuters express concerns about London Bridge rebuilding
“Details of services will influence my decision about early retirement”
Our Bat & Ball correspondent has been collecting questions about the London Bridge rebuilding from some of the Bat & Ball commuters:-
- When are timetables going to be available? – people need to know what effect this work will have on their journeys to ascertain what problems may be encountered with current care arrangements for children, elderly relatives and pets. One person even suggested that they want to know what services will be provided so as they can factor this in to their decision concerning whether to take early retirement!
- At Sevenoaks the fast services to Cannon Street are usually fuller than those to Charing Cross and it is more difficult to get a seat on them. What extra provision will be made to provide additional capacity on the Cannon Street bound trains when passengers who currently use Charing Cross services and leave the train at London Bridge transfer to Cannon Street bound services when Charing Cross services cease calling at London Bridge
- For Docklands bound commuters currently transferring to the Jubilee line at London Bridge will SER/NRbe recommending continuing to Waterloo East when the Charing Cross services do not call at London Bridge to try to stop overcrowding on the Cannon Street services?
- Will annual rail only season tickets holders be permitted to use their tickets on the London Underground and bus services between say Victoria, Charing Cross, Blackfriars, Monument, Cannon Street and London Bridge?
- Will any additional restrictions be introduced concerning the carriage of bicycles and other bulky items in peak periods whilst the work at London Bridge is being undertaken?
- Will the current first and last train services still be run during the period of rebuilding London Bridge or will the train services start later and finish earlier?
