London Bridge disruption 23-31 August

From Saturday 23 August to Sunday 31 August no Southern or First Capital Connect services will operate from London Bridge station.  This is so that rebuilt platforms 12 and 13 can be brought back into use and platforms 10 and 11 closed for rebuilding.  This is the next stage of the London Bridge rebuilding programme.  Some Southern/First Capital Connect services will run from Blackfriars rather than London Bridge.

The “Southeastern” side of London Bridge is not directly affected and there are only minor changes to Southeastern services to Sevenoaks.  However it will not be possible to transfer at London Bridge for Southern services, including Gatwick services.   In addition other services, including the Northern Line, are expected to be more crowded as Southern passengers use them instead.

A small number of Southeastern trains will be shortened (for somewhat obscure reasons): for Sevenoaks passengers this just affects the 0826 Sevenoaks to Cannon Street (8 carriages not the usual 11) and the 1657 from Charing Cross to Ashford stopping at Sevenoaks at 1727 (4 carriages not the usual 8).

We’re told that National Rail tickets will be accepted on any reasonable route on London Overground, First Capital Connect, Southern, Southeastern, South West Trains, London Underground, Tramlink, DLR and London Buses. There is no ticket acceptance on Gatwick Express.

Please also be aware that there is unrelated engineering work between Chislehurst and Sevenoaks on Sunday 24 August.  There will be no trains from Dunton Green, and Sevenoaks to London trains run at different times from normal as they will have to be diverted via the Otford line to Chislehurst.

There is a general article about the London Bridge rebuilding on the Londonist and a more detailed write-up at London Reconnections.
