Bat & Ball station update
More steps on Bat & Ball Station’s footbridge are showing signs of decay; the sixth step down from the top on platform 1 and the fourth step down from the top and bottom one on platform 2 are rotting and will soon need replacing.
In addition a couple of decorative stones that are normally located at the top of the side wall, just below the roof, of Bat & Ball Station had fallen to the ground. It appears to be due to general decay and neglect rather than any other cause.
National Rail Enquiries website advises viewers that the station facilities available at Bat & Ball include “Lost Property”; at an station without staff it would be interesting to know how this service operates. It continues under the heading “Step free access note”; “Platform 2 suitable for wheelchair access. Nearest suitable station is Sevenoaks”.
The SRTA Secretary adds: We understand that there are plans to repaint Bat & Ball station during the summer. We have also been active in getting the Town Council and Southeastern into a constructive dialogue on the future of the station buildings and on disabled access to the London-bound platform, and we hope that there might be agreement on the way forward soon.
