{"id":2371,"date":"2017-03-14T10:45:58","date_gmt":"2017-03-14T10:45:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/srta.org.uk\/wp\/?p=2371"},"modified":"2017-03-19T16:05:57","modified_gmt":"2017-03-19T16:05:57","slug":"consultation-on-new-southeastern-franchise-launched","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/srta.org.uk\/wp\/posts\/2371","title":{"rendered":"Consultation on new Southeastern franchise launched"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The De<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/consultations\/future-of-south-eastern-rail-services\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-2373 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/srta.org.uk\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/20170314-dft-document-213x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"213\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/srta.org.uk\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/20170314-dft-document-213x300.png 213w, https:\/\/srta.org.uk\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/20170314-dft-document.png 394w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 213px) 100vw, 213px\" \/><\/a>partment for Transport have this morning published their\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/consultations\/future-of-south-eastern-rail-services\" target=\"_blank\">consultation document<\/a> about the specification for the next Southeastern franchise starting in December 2018.<\/p>\n<p>On a quick read it has some general statements such as<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>&#8220;more space for passengers&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;reduce\u00a0delays&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;We want the next operator to engage fully with passengers and place them at the heart of their business\u00a0and operations&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>but it&#8217;s short of specific proposals on how would this be done. There&#8217;s a call for suggestions from customers in a range of specific areas, so this looks an opportunity to make a contribution before decisions are taken.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-2374\" src=\"https:\/\/srta.org.uk\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/20170314-dft-ppm-graph-300x196.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"196\" srcset=\"https:\/\/srta.org.uk\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/20170314-dft-ppm-graph-300x196.png 300w, https:\/\/srta.org.uk\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/20170314-dft-ppm-graph-768x501.png 768w, https:\/\/srta.org.uk\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/20170314-dft-ppm-graph-460x300.png 460w, https:\/\/srta.org.uk\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/20170314-dft-ppm-graph.png 823w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Some Southeastern customers will be surprised to read DfT&#8217;s analysis of how much improvement has been made since 2014! DfT&#8217;s view is also rather undermined by their own graph of how Southeastern performance has gradually fallen under the current Franchise &#8220;Direct Award&#8221; for which the then Rail Minister promised &#8220;Tough Targets&#8221; and a &#8220;Fresh Start&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The consultation is open until 23 May. We&#8217;ll of course be responding in detail, and discussing some of the issues here over the coming weeks.
